After Nicki was attacked by Lauren's boyfriend, Safaree came to her rescue. She told him she loved him and that she was finally ready to marry him. But did she mean it or was she too caught up in the moment. Her thoughts were interrupted when Safaree walked in. He flashed her a smile, tilted her head back, and kissed her forehead. She pulled him down onto the examination table and looped her arm through his. He brought her a feeling of love and security.
"Nicki.... Why are we here?"
"Dr. Melboro wanted a few more tests and x-rays and the nurses already did that. I have no clue why we're here right now."
"Good morning, Ms Maraj. Mr. Samuels." Dr. Melboro boomed. He was about 5'4 and had chocolately brown skin. Her big owl eyes made her look child-like, but it was impossible to mistake the sexy med-school graduate for a child. Nicki looked into Dr. Melboro's eyes and seemed to scan her face for an emotion. An answer of some sort, but she couldn't see one.
"Mr. & Mrs. Samuels soon, doc." Safaree beamed.
Nicki blushed for a faint moment, but quickly replaced her serious gaze.
"Oh, ok. Well Ms. M- Mrs. Samuels, when we ran our tests yesterday, there was no physical damage on you or the twins. Today's tests came out the same." Nicki knew this should be a happy moment for her, but she wouldn't breathe until the Dr. M was done.
"But I kept thinking about it and there's a very good chance the blow to your stomach cause an internal problem for the twins. We want to make sure nothing is wrong with them, and if so we want to get them out as soon as possible to reverse any problems. For this reason, I'm asking for permission to induce your labor. It isn't required, but I promise, Mrs. Samuels it's only for the twin's benefit."
Nicki stopped listening and blacked out. She didn't want anything to be wrong with her babies. Have them early? Premature birth was risky. Especially when twins were involved. She didn't hear it, but she was screaming. Looking at her stomach she realized she couldn't hear ANYTHING. She started to choke and a team of nurses and doctors rushed the room to prevent her from losing consciousness. Safaree slowly backed out of the room and fled outside for some air. When he got outside he still couldn't regulate his breathing and he felt gravity get 10 times stronger as he fell to his knees in deep sobs. No, he thought. Nicki's about to lose it. I have to be strong for her. I can't break down. He forced himself off the ground but felt that his legs weren't stable. He finally made it to the car. His heart hurt and he thought about everything the doctor said. Nicki could have the twins early and risk their death, or she can insist the doctor wait until her full 9 months are over and by then one of his babies could be a vegetable. He cranked the car up and headed home. He had to atleast look strong when he had to look at Nicki.
When he returned to the hospital freshly showered, and sporting a loose fitting tshirt and sweats. Nicki smiled as he walked through the door and tried to get out of the bed.
"NO!" Safaree practically barked.
"Lay down and relax"
Nicki smiled and rolled her eyes. Then she closed her eyes and her face got serious and thoughtful.
"Safaree, I've decided to let her induce me. It's been scheduled for 2 weeks from now and thats only 2 & a half weeks early. I have friends who've been born way earlier than that and I really hope you agree because I don-"
"It's okay, Nic. I'm on board with whatever you've decided." Safaree expected her to smile, but the tears flowing down her cheeks were tears of a mother.
